Delta Terminal 5 at LAX recorded 3 million boarding passengers in 2008. Although not the busiest of the airport’s 9 terminals, these numbers are still very significant. The roof at Terminal 5 was
deteriorating and it was decided to remove the existing system and replace it with a thermoplastic single ply system.
The system selected was a Sarnafil 60 mil fully adhered membrane over 5” of polyisocyanurate insulation with additional tapered insulation where needed to enhance drainage. Due to concerns over reflective properties of the membrane the color selected was tan. The concrete dome was covered with a fully adhered 80 mil matching membrane.
