We here at BEST Contracting Services stand behind our work and are proud of our workmanship. It is always such an honor when we are recognized for our commitment to our projects and clients. BEST Contracting Services was recently awarded Third place in the Sustainability Category of Sika Sarnafil’s 2016 Project of the Year competition for our work on the LA Convention Center (LACC).

We have partnered with Sika Sarnafil because their PVC thermoplastic membrane technology is an industry leader.

The Los Angeles Convention Center first opened its doors in 1971 and is still considered one of the larger convention centers in the US. City owned and AEG managed, the LACC is assuming the mantle for environmental stewardship. It achieved LEED certification back in 2008 and now maintains a LEED Gold certification status. The LACC is constantly striving to improve its facilities through expansion/modernization.

BEST was selected to furnish and install approximately 500,000 square feet of Sika Sarnafil PVC thermoplastic membrane roofing materials throughout the entire building, mainly the Upper and Lower Concourse roof, the entire South Hall building and the South and West Tower roofs.

BEST and LACC supervisor, Tim Stratton reviewed the multitude of issues that needed addressing on a daily basis. These issues included safety lines and fall protection, material delivery and scheduling challenges due to the fact that this is a functioning facility with access to the public. The biggest obstacle was the safety of the public. BEST’s crew had to build a 10′ ramp to transport materials and employed the use of a crane for delivery of materials. BEST crews also worked around the LACC’s events by working the night shift. BEST goals are to work within the client’s requirements and were fortunate enough to have made a great partnership with the management of LACC.
