El Sereno Middle School

The Challenges

Noted as a historically significant school in the National Register of Historic Places, El Sereno Middle School opened in 1937 as a 6 year high school. The school was designed in the Italian Renaissance Revival architecture style which generally includes low pitched or flat roofs that are hidden by cornices, short parapet walls or balustrades and utilize hip roofs with wide overhanging eaves covered in clay tile.

BEST was selected by LAUSD to remove and replace existing BUR and Shingle roofing, including gutters and duct work, at various buildings with Carlisle Golden Seal Total Roofing System and Certainteed Shingles over an area of more than 126,400 square feet.
