Kern County Justice Facility
The Challenges
Construction began on this $100.5 million project in August 2015 with the aid of the State’s AB 900 funding allocation.
Situated on a 24 acre site, the 215,000 square foot facility features housing and support facilities for more than 800 inmates. Each of the medium security housing units will have 100 cells and will include attorney visiting booths, various administrative and support offices, as well as treatment, recreational and educational areas.
BEST was selected to furnish and install a Carlisle fully- adhered PVC roofing system for this design-build project over an area of approximately 175,000 square feet along with the installation of 34 Solatube skylights and 7 roof hatches in the Support and Corridor Buildings as well as Housing Pods A, B, C and D.
